Welcome! Allow me to introduce myself...

If you’ve ever spent time at a pottery wheel, you know that sometimes the smallest adjustments can make a big difference.

That’s exactly how Potter’s Peg came to be.

I’m Rodney Tague, the potter behind Clay Contours and the creator of Potter’s Peg. I’ve been working with clay for decades, and after stepping away from pottery for more than 20 years while working as a welder and raising six daughters, I eventually found my way back to the wheel.

Clay Contours has been serving potters in the Council Bluffs and Omaha area for more than 15 years, and over that time, I’ve spent a lot of hours sitting at a pottery wheel—throwing, experimenting, making mistakes, and figuring out what works.

And sometimes, what doesn’t work.

One of those moments eventually led to Potter’s Peg.

I was sitting at my wheel and needed a better way to support and position my leg. The solution I had at the time involved a crate and a brick. It worked…sort of. But I kept thinking there had to be a better way.

So I built one.

That simple idea turned into what is now Potter’s Peg—a patent-pending pottery wheel accessory designed to give potters another option for leg support and positioning while they work.

But Potter’s Peg is about more than just the product. It’s about the time we spend at the wheel, the things we create there, and the little discoveries that make pottery more comfortable, enjoyable, and personal.

That’s what we want this blog to be about.

Here in Wheel Talk, we’ll share stories from the studio, pottery tips and ideas, behind-the-scenes looks at Potter’s Peg, projects we’re working on, and stories from other potters who are putting it to use.

Some posts might be about pottery. Some might be about the process. And some might just be about what’s happening around the studio.

Because there’s always something firing around here.

Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to Clay Contours & Potter’s Peg.

Now, let’s get back to the wheel.
